When we first looked up at the skies and felt alone, when we lose our beloved family member, when our hearts have been broken, and when we are traumatized, when we run out of options, and when we are physically in pain, we can pray in our own way. Spirituality is a personal experience and one which is documented as one of the seven protective factors for a deeply fulfilling life. So today, pray! Pray with song, with dance, with silence, with poetry. Pray with all the beautiful things that remind you of your divine humanity and how much you mean to others and yourself. Self-love is a form of prayer; you deserve to love yourself and be loved for yourself now.

We can't go back, but we can move forward to be more mindful in the future and do our best to convey our best self daily. As a therapist, I can tell you that repair attempts are part of what we teach; how someone cleans up conflict is a tell-tale sign of their integrity.
